With continued volcanic eruptions and activity of Mt. Redoubt, the Municipality of Anchorage Office of Emergency Management (OEM) and Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) continue to monitor the eruptions for any ash fall that may affect the city.
OEM continues to work closely with emergency management partners and other related agencies to provide an appropriate response to meet the significance of the events as they arise. In the case of future eruptions, OEM will issue a press release and staff the Emergency Operations Center when the Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) and the National Weather Service (NWS) reports significant/substantial ash fall projections for Anchorage greater than 5mm. OEM will also issue a press release when the AVO raises or lowers their Volcano Alert Level and Aviation Color Code.
